Okayti Silver Needles White Tea
This Darjeeling Okayti White is a class apart. The flavour is complemented and bound together by delicate undertones of soft luxury citrus fruits. The lingering flavour in the mouth makes this tea a sheer delight.
Dry Leaf: Long thin leaves that are covered with silver hairs. Some are darker in colour though they still have the silver hair.
Aroma: Light, floral and sweet scent
Colour of Liquor: Pale, ivory
Flavour of the Tea: Flavour is light to medium in strength and bears a floral sweetness. It’s dry and nutty which comes through in the after taste. Also elements of light peach which contrast nicely against the peony and honeysuckle notes.
Compliments: Because of the extremely subtle flavour of white teas, we recommend pairing them with only the mildest of flavours.
Brewing Instructions: Always use fresh water. Bring water to near boiling point. Take one teaspoon of tea leaves in a cup. Pour the heated water and steep the tea for 5 mins. Adjust the time of brewing as per desired strength. Leaves can be steeped multiple times till it gives flavour.
Tea Master Recommendation: Not to be had with milk. Always use fresh water. Do not use re-boiled water. The brewed leaves can be steeped multiple times with an increase in steeping time. Sip it when it cools down a little instead of boiling hot for enhanced flavour.
About the Garden: This 150 years old plantation is one of the most picturesque estates in Darjeeling, in the old days the teas from this estate were highly acclaimed at the London auctions. Okayti teas were served as exclusivity at Buckingham Palace and to most of the globally famous tea lovers of the time like Queen Elizabeth, Jawaharlal Nehru and Nikita Khrushchev. Organic Silver Needle - White Tea, holds the highest honours among all teas.
